If you are trying to lose stubborn extra pounds and are frustrated with methods you've tried, the promise of instant weight loss may be very appealing to you. However, you should be very cautious when considering any product or program that makes this claim. While it is possible to lose weight quickly, there is no possibility you can lose weight instantly. If you want to try a quick weight loss program, it is best attempted before an event at which you want to look your best, such as your wedding. You may want to drop a few pounds on a short term basis, which is exactly what rapid weight loss products are designed for. They should not be used on a long-term basis.

There are products that claim to melt away fat in a hurry as well as those that are meant for detoxifying and cleansing. The majority of the weight you are going to lose will be water weight. With cleanses, you may lose water weight and the weight you may have been carrying around from waste that had accumulated in the colon. It is quite possible that you will gain the weight back eventually. However there are ways you can avoid gaining too much, for example staying away from foods and beverages that cause you to retain water and keeping your colon healthy are good preventative measures.

The truth is, no quick weight loss program is going to be enough to sustain you for very long. The best approach (and your doctor will surely agree) is to eat a healthy diet and follow a regular exercise program consisting of cardiovascular exercise, strength training and flexibility training. Your diet should consist of fruits and vegetables, lean protein, healthy fats, low-fat dairy and whole grains. Avoid fatty foods, fried foods, processed foods, white sugar and white flour which can be detrimental to your waistline and your health. If you have a sweet tooth and want an indulgence, dark chocolate is packed with beneficial antioxidants.

So to recap, there is no such thing as instant weight loss. So-called quick weight loss programs may help you flush away waste and water that is retained but most likely serve no lasting purpose. If you want to supplement your diet and exercise plan with a weight loss product, there are prescription drugs doctors usually reserve for the dangerously obese, and over the counter supplements, most of which contain natural ingredients. When shopping for over the counter products, look for ingredients like acai berry, (a rich nutrient source) green tea extract (to boost the metabolism and provide additional antioxidants) and hoodia (a natural appetite suppressant.) It may be helpful to research consumer reviews before spending money on any kind of over the counter weight loss supplement.
